CIUT Membership drive — Your donations will help us buy a new transmitter.

Why donate?
The transmitter that served our station for the last 27 years died last week. As a result, our wide broadcast reach has severely diminished. CIUT has one of the widest broadcast areas of all the community stations in the country, but without a transmitter, only a portion of downtown Toronto can hear us now.

The FIRST THREE PEOPLE to donate $50 CAD or more to CIUT to become a member will receive a limited-edition postcard created by the artist Akiko Sekiya.  She will send you the card straight from her studio in Japan. In addition, you’ll also receive a thank-you gift from me.  We thank Akiko for her support of our membership drive. (Below: A sample of Akiko’s work | CIUT at its old location, 2009)

How it works:
— Go to www.ciut.fm to donate through PayPal (follow instructions on website)
— Send me proof of your donation and a mailing address
— The first three listeners to give $50 or more will receive Akiko’s limited edition postcard.
— All donors of any amount will receive a thank-you gift from me.
— Message me through Facebook or email to atom@atomicheartradio.com

ABOUT

Experimental. Introspective. Escapist. Atomic Heart is a radio mish-mesh of niche sounds and a literary obsession of the East Asian nuance. We identify good poetry and prose and explore the interaction between words and music. We also do interviews that reveal the city’s many facets beneath the superficial mainstream.

Atomic Heart is produced in Hong Kong, the largest shopping mall in the world.  The program was launched in September 2013 on CIUT 89.5 FM, a radio station based in Toronto, Canada.

‘City Voices’ includes interviews with artists from various circles of the Hong Kong and East Asian creative scene.

‘My Collection’ refers to my CD rack from which we sample tracks, much like unpacking a record together.

‘Book Shelf’ lists the books featured on the program, with classics to revisit and niche works to explore.
